For the second time this season, the Rocky Mountain Lady Grizzlies struggled against Shoshoni, dropping two games at home to the Lady Blue on Saturday.
Shoshoni won the A game 41-13 and the B game 33-18.
In the A game, Shoshoni built a 19-8 halftime lead, then shut out the Lady Grizz 13-0 in the third to take a commanding 32-8 lead into the final quarter. A 9-5 advantage in the fourth gave Shoshoni the 28-point win.
Annie Crosby led Rocky in scoring with 8 points, and Kennedy Brimhall added 3 points, Leah Haslem 2.
“The girls never stopped playing hard, no matter what the score was,” coach Taylor Winland said. “Last time we played Shoshoni we struggled breaking their press. This time, we broke the press with ease but would then take a quick shot offensively, which is what Shoshoni wanted us to do.
“There was definitely improvement from the last time we played them, which is what you love to see as a coach.”
Sawyer Bassett and Taylor Grandalen led the B team with 6 points apiece, and Elle Ganoung, Crosby and Daizy Weinand scored 2 each.
Burlington battle
The Lady Grizz played a single A game at Burlington Tuesday, winning 30-24. Rocky doubled Burlington 8-4 in the first quarter and outscored the home team 9-4 in the second to build a 17-8 halftime lead. Burlington outscored the Lady Grizz 16-13 in the second half but could not complete the comeback.
Bassett led Rocky with 13 points, and Brimhall added 9, Haslem 4, Crosby and Brooklyn Larsen 2 apiece.
