The Rocky Mountain Lady Grizz volleyball teams are gearing up to host
the Rocky Mountain Invitational this Friday and Saturday in Cowley.

The Lady Grizz had 16 athletes come out for the program this season: four seniors, three juniors, four sophomores and five freshmen.

Returning to the varsity lineup are senior setter Keylee Christiansen, senior middle blocker Lauren Bassett and junior middle blocker Halle Grandalen.

Three other hitters will round out the starters: senior Kamryn Welling, junior Kaysie Cooley and junior Charlee Welling. Senior Layla Gardner will take on the libero responsibilities, and
sophomore Kennedy Brimhall and freshman Sawyer Bassett will complete the varsity team.

“Practices have been upbeat and full of energy,” new head coach Kay Townsend said. “They are an intense group of players and extremely coachable.”

Townsend believes the team’s strengths will be their high intensity and having all-around team players.

“We are excited to play this weekend, especially since it is our home
tourney,” she said.

On Friday, the varsity squad will face Meeteetse at 10 a.m. followed
by Dubois at 2 p.m. and Wind River at 8 p.m. in the main gym. The JV team will play Meeteetse at 11 a.m., Dubois at 3 p.m. and Wind River at 9 p.m.

Seeding for bracket play will be determined by outcomes of Friday’s matches, and bracket matches will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
