Lady Grizz win eight of nine sets in trio of wins
The Rocky Mountain Middle School Lady Grizz are heating up on the volleyball court. After a slow start to the season, the Rocky netters won eight of nine sets in a trio of matches over the past week.
Friday in Meeteetse, the Lady Grizz A team swept the Longhorns 25-22, 25-11, 15-6, and the B team won 2-1 in sets, dropping the first set 25-15 but winning the next two 25-17, 15-8. The C team swept Meeteetse 26-24, 25-19, 15-11.
Playing their first home games of the season Saturday, the Lady Grizz won nine of nine sets against the visiting Riverside Lady Rebels. The A team won 25-10, 25-11, 15-4, the B team won 25-17, 25-12, 15-12 and the C team prevailed 25-19, 25-22, 17-15.
Hosting Powell Monday afternoon, the Lady Grizz A team swept the Powell eighth-grade B team 25-22, 25-8, 15-10, and the B team fell to the Powell seventh-grade A team 25-17, 25-21, 12-15. The C team beat the PMS seventh-grade B squad 15-25, 25-19, 15-9.
“The Lady Grizz picked up some fun wins this weekend,” head coach
Lacey Bassett said. “We changed up the lineup on our A team, and the girls are working together a lot better. We are anxious to see how we play against Greybull and Shoshoni this weekend.”
The Lady Grizz have another busy week ahead. They travel to Greybull today (Thursday) for a 4:15 p.m. opening serve, then make the longer journey to Shoshoni Saturday for a 10 a.m. contest. Rocky Mountain travels to Lovell Tuesday for a 4:15 p.m. start.
