LHS spring golfers compete in Lander
The Lovell High School spring golf teams traveled to Lander to participate in the Lander Spring Invite on Friday. Both Lady Bulldogs in attendance placed in the top 10 at the event.
Sophomore Kenley Wilson placed eighth with an overall score of 105, while junior Madalyn McCollam was right behind her in ninth with 107 strokes.
“I really enjoy seeing single digits next to our golfers’ names in the placing columns,” LHS golf coach Dane Robertson said.
For the boys, senior Matthew Allen led the way after shooting an 85 to finish in 13th place. Jaxen Hayes shot 98 for 27th, Gary Gardner 126 for 40th, while Tyler Wilkerson and Aren Olsen both shot 133 to tie for 42nd.
“The course in Lander is like bad Chinese food,” Robertson quipped. “It will make your stomach hurt but always keeps you wanting to come back for more. The course is tough and quirky, but it always gives us a good time.”
Next up, the teams will head to Sheridan this Friday, May 16, before hosting the final tournament of the year on Monday, May 19, at the Foster Gulch Golf Course.
