With consecutive pool play wins on Monday and Tuesday night at the Northeast Little League Complex in Lovell, the Rays and Braves secured the top spots of the interleague bracket that began on Wednesday night in Powell.

The Twins split their pool play matches, beating the Powell Brawlers 6-3 on Monday and falling in a 9-8 nail-biter to the Powell Grizzlies on Tuesday.

Adam Hill smashed two inside-the-park home runs for the Twins against the Grizzlies and finished with five RBIs.

Pitching woes affected the Twins as they only struck out two batters and walked 13 in the loss.

The Rays came out on top 9-3 over the Trash Pandas and took care of business 16-5 against the Rockhounds.

The Rays were nervous heading into the bottom of the fourth inning down 3-1 against the Trash Pandas, and they went on to score eight in the bottom of the inning led by Cayden Dickerson’s inside-the-park home run and a double by Corbin Henley that scored two runs.

As far as the Braves, they had dominating performances over the Grizzlies 21-2 on Monday and the Brawlers 15-3 on Tuesday evening.

A trio of Jamesons lead the charge on Monday with Kali, Jace and Patrick all connecting for two hits each.

Jace Jameson also went 3-for-3 on Tuesday while Asher Leonhardt had a pair of hits to lead the Braves over the Brawlers.

Wednesday began the single-elimination tournament in Powell with the Rays squaring off against the Brawlers at 5:30 p.m. on the minors field and the Braves versus Greybull at the same time on the majors field.

Following the Rays game, the Twins and Trash Pandas met to determine who would advance to the second round.
