Little League seasons in final weeks of regular season
As the Big Horn County Little League nears the end of regular season play, things are gearing up for the inter-league tournament that will be held the week of June 16-20. The minors tournament will be held in Powell, while the majors will host the games in Lovell.
All-star tryouts will be held on June 10 for players that wish to earn a spot on the all-star rosters. The minor league players will try out from 4:30-5:30 p.m., while the majors will take the field from 6-7 p.m.
Important dates regarding all-star teams are: All-Star Showdown in Cody on June 27-28, District Tournament in Greybull on July 9-13 and the State Tournament held in Lovell on July 23-26.
CURRENT STANDINGS
In the majors division, the Red Sox currently hold an 8-2-1 record on the season, barely edging out the Yankees with a 7-4 record. The two teams will have a doubleheader against one another this afternoon (Thursday) with game times set for 5:30 and 7 p.m.
For the minors, all three teams have been finding success on the field. The Rangers boast a 9-1 record as of Tuesday night, while the Dodgers sit at 5-4 on the year and the Diamondbacks are at 4-5-1. The Dodgers and Diamondbacks will face off on Thursday evening with the opening pitch set for 7 p.m.
Coach pitch teams have finally started seeing some action at the Northeast Little League Baseball Complex. This year’s teams are the Marlins, Braves and Athletics. For this week, the Athletics and Marlins will square off tonight (Thursday) at 5:30 p.m. on the north field.
