LMS grapplers prep for conference tournament
The Lovell Middle School Bulldog wrestlers are preparing for their conference meet this Saturday in Thermopolis, where they will compete against strong competition from across the region. The tournament is set to begin at 10 a.m. at the high school, though the time will be confirmed once the official schedule is released.
Head coach Quinton Hecker said the Bulldogs are entering the meet at the perfect time.
“We seem to be peaking at the right time, and I’m excited to see everyone’s improvements since the first day,” Hecker said.
Lovell will be taking 30 wrestlers to Saturday’s conference meet. Competing in the eighth-grade division are Britt Asay, Landon Asay, Xaden Baxendale, Analija Garcia, Garrett Henley, Jordan Mangus and Isaiah Leal. The seventh-grade Bulldogs include Leila Brown, Evalina Garcia, Carson Grant, Angelina Lauhoff, Braxton Layne, Bella Patina and Treleah Two Two. Representing the sixth grade are Kannon Bassett, Jamen Crosby, Connor Harris, Hayden Harshman, Corbin Henley, Joel Henley, Hadley Henton, Sean Leece, Carson Marberry, Alexander Mcillwaine, Dalton Moss, Gabriel Patina, Abiel Torres, Adalyn Waltjen, Lionel Two Two and Jace Jameson.
With conference marking the end of the Bulldogs’ season, Hecker said he’s eager to see how the team performs at the big event.
“Conference is where everything comes together,” he said. “I’m looking forward to seeing the progress they’ve made.”
