LMS grapplers wrap up their season at Conference

The Lovell Middle School wrestling team wrapped up their season at the Big Horn Basin Conference in Thermopolis Saturday with 26 Lovell wrestlers getting the chance to step out onto the mat for their last tournament of the season.

Isaac Blau placed first in the Division B 132-pound bracket. Blau pinned both of his opponents to move onto the finals against Max Nieto of Worland Middle School. Blau pinned Nieto in 4:06 to stand at the top of his bracket.

Emiliano Silva wrestled in the Division B 155-pound weight class and took first place with a clean record of 3-0. Silva won his first match via pin and his second by decision, landing him in the finals against teammate Jordan Mangus. A major decision of 14-4 placed Silva first.

Manuel Garcia placed second in the Boys A 138-pound division. Garcia wrestled two tough matches to land in the finals, going 2-1 overall.

Alexander Mcillwaine competed in the Division B 220-pound bracket. Mcillwaine pinned both of his opponents in under a minute to take first place in his weight class. 

Grant Rose wrestled in the Division B 126-pound weight class Saturday, going 2-1 overall and placing second. 

Jordan Mangus competed in the Division B 155-pound weight class and took second place. Mangus went 2-1 overall, facing his teammate Emiliano Silva in the finals and taking second after a 4-14 major decision. 

Vada Schmidt wrestled in the Girls 126-pound division, ending the tournament in second place. Schmidt pinned her first two opponents to land her in the finals against Maythe Garay of Greybull Middle School. A tough match ended with Schmidt in second place with an 11-15 decision. 

Other Lovell placers for the Big Horn Basin Middle School Conference Meet were:

Third: Garrett Henley, Division A 115, 2-1 record; Brayden Harris, Division B 120, 3-1 record; Ashlynn Hitz, Girls Division 77, 0-2 record; Evalina Garcia, Girls Division 84, 0-2 record.

Fourth: Connor Harris, 3-2 record; Angelina Lauhoff, Girls Division 70, 2-2 record.

Lovell wrapped up their season at Conference with a team score of 34.5 points, placing them in eighth overall.
