LMS thinclads wrap up regular season with strong home meet
Lovell Middle School had an exciting weekend hosting a home track meet on Saturday, May 3. Nine teams traveled to join host Lovell and compete in this week’s meet, the second to last chance for middle school athletes to qualify for the best-of-the-best meet.
8th grade boys
In the 1,600-meter race, Isaac Sanders ran 5:39.13, putting him in third place. Ethan Hendershot placed fourth behind Sanders with a time of 5:52.27.
Mike Cornia placed second in the discus throw. Cornia threw 95-2.5, a two-foot season best. In fourth place in discus was Christian Garcia, who threw a 92-4.
Lovell eighth-grade Bulldogs racked up 26 points from their relays. They placed second in the 4x100m relay with a time of 54.26. Getting another second place in the 800-meter medley relay, the athletes ran a 2:19.44. And to top it off, with a time of 4:33.11, the eighth-grade Bulldogs placed first in the 4x400 relay.

100m -- Oscar Garcia fourth, Zavier Heater seventh; 200m -- Grant Rose fifth, Heater ninth; 400m -- Rose eighth; 800m -- Oscar Garcia fourth, Ethan Hendershot 10th; high jump -- Jasper Lopez sixth, Heater eighth; pole vault -- James Laffin seventh; shot put -- Christian Garcia ninth, Laffin 10th.
8th grade girls
Macie Anderson represented Lovell well, beginning with her 13.78 100-meter dash, which put her in second place. Soon after in the 200 meters, Anderson placed second again with a time of 28.42. Later in the high jump, she cleared 4-8, securing another second-place finish. Anderson went on to leap 15-.05 in the long jump, winning first place in that event.
Myles May mirrored Anderson’s scoring by placing second in 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter hurdles. May ran 17.78 for her 100-meter hurdles and 33.50 in 200-meter hurdles. May later placed fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 29-3.25.
Lovell Middle School had good placings at the throwing rings for the home meet, as well. Randi Ayotte and Brynnlee Spanier placed second and third in the discus, throwing 68-2 and 67-2.5, respectively. In the shot put, Morgan Harshman threw 33-5.25, throwing an almost three-foot season best.

7th grade boys
Landen Peterson showed up for the Lovell team at this meet. Peterson took first in discus with a throw of 85-7. Peterson went on to throw 30-8 in the shot put, placing him in second.
Lovell was well represented at the jumping pits, thanks to Bradley Mickelson and Mason Kitchen. Mickelson cleared 4-6 in the high jump, placing him in fifth and adding 4 points to the team’s overall score. Mickelson later jumped 13-8.75 in the long jump, placing him in fourth, just under Kitchen. Kitchen jumped 13-9, securing third place in this event.
The seventh-grade Bulldogs also had a successful 4x100 relay team, which won this event in 1:00.07.

7th grade girls
Rubie Weber won first place in triple jump with a leap of 31-2 to lead the seventh-grade girls. Not far behind her was teammate Laney Felkins in fifth place, jumping 28-6.
The seventh-grade girls had productive relay teams, ultimately scoring the team 18 points. Their 4x100m relay team ran 57.87, which placed them first in this event. The Lovell 800-meter relay team placed second with a time of 2:22.95.

100m -- Oakley Anderson seventh, Rubie Weber seventh; 200m -- Anderson fourth, Greenlee Pillow eighth; 400m -- Pillow fourth, Macee Winterholler fifth, Harper Walker seventh; 800m -- Winterholler sixth; 100m hurdles -- Anderson fourth; 200m hurdles -- Janelle Asay eighth, Riley Henley ninth; long jump -- Weber fourth, Anderson sixth, Laney Felkins eighth; triple jump -- Walker 10th; pole vault -- Oakley Bischoff fourth.
6th grade boys
James Sanders ran the 100-meter dash in 13.42 for the sixth-grade boys, which put him in first place. Sanders also was successful at the jumping pits for long jump, placing him in first again. Sanders jumped 14-0, getting just over a three-foot personal record. Sanders later threw 64-1 in the discus, placing him in third.
Tre Clark added eight points to his team’s total by placing second in the high jump. Clark cleared 4-2 to secure this placing.

100m -- Thomas Nichols sixth; 200m -- Tre Clark tenth; 100m hurdles -- Clark seventh; discus -- Aaiden George seventh, Gage Angell eighth; shot put- George fourth.
6th grade girls
Evalina Garcia and Makynna Mayes showed up for their team in the 100-meter dash. Garcia placed first in this event, running a time of 14.63. Mayes was right behind her with a 14.69 time. Garcia also participated in the 200-meter dash, placing fourth with a time of 31.76.
Chloe Asay won the 800-meter run, running the two laps in 2:49.96. Asay also competed in the 1,600-meter run and placed second, running it in 6:08.62. She was just behind her teammate Nellie Guccion, who won the mile in 5:59.20.
The sixth-grade girls had a lot of top 10 placers in the 400-meter dash. Treleah Two Two placed first in this event, running the 400m in 1:13.92. Catherine Zollman placed sixth, Addyson Leonhardt placed seventh, and Oakley Abraham placed eighth. With all these top ten placers, they ended up bringing in 16 points to their team.

Conference meet
Lovell Middle School track athletes will attend the Yellowstone Conference meet on Saturday in Worland. This will be the last meet for some of the athletes, but others will continue on to the best-of-the-best meet in Lander the following Tuesday.
