LMS track athletes compete well at Yellowstone Conference meet

For their last meet all together, the Middle School track athletes competed in the Yellowstone Conference meet in Worland Saturday.

Sixth grader James Henderson had a good showing at the conference meet. Henderson started off with a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash, running a time of 14.63. Henderson later placed fourth in the 200-meter dash and first in both the 100- and 200-meter hurdles. Henderson ran the 100-meter hurdles in 19.57 and the 200-meter hurdles in 33.01.

Hayden Harshman was a close second behind Henderson in the 200-meter hurdles race, running 34.09. On the field side, Harshman dominated the long jump, triple jump and pole vault events. Placing first in each of those events gave the sixth-grade boys 30 points to add to their score. Harshman jumped 13-6.5 in the long jump and leaped 29-9.5 in the triple jump. Harshman also cleared 8-0 in pole vault.

Lovell’s sixth-grade boys had a good showing at the pole vault event, with Harshman in first, Spencer Walker in second and Jamen Crosby in fourth. Walker cleared 7-0 in his vault, and Crosby cleared 6-0.

Adam Hill placed second in the discus with a throw of 19-4, and he later threw 29-1 in the shot put, a throw that put him in first place.

100m- Luke Bischoff eighth; 200m- Carson Marberry ninth; 400m- Lionel Two Two eighth; 800m- Jamen Crosby sixth, Abiel Torres eighth, Joel Henley 10th; 1,600m- Crosby fifth; 200m hurdles- Two Two fifth; high jump- Joel Henley seventh; long jump- Bischoff ninth, Jace Jameson 10th; triple jump- Spencer Walker third, Corbin Henley 10th; discus- Jameson ninth; shot put- Jameson sixth, Taysom Butler 10th. 

Sixth-grade athlete Blakely Piper once again had outstanding performances in her events at the conference meet. Piper ran 13.57 in the 100-meter dash, only .06 seconds behind the top eighth-grade girl athlete in the 100-meter dash. Piper also placed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.06. Piper later ran 17.45 in the 100-meter hurdles, placing first in that event, as well.

Charlize Hessenthaler had some top placing finishes, as well. Hessenthaler placed fourth in the long jump and second in both the 100- and 200-meter dash. Hessenthaler ran 14.58 in the 100 meters and 29.98 in the 200 meters.

800m- Wyatt Hendershot; 100m hurdles- Kashlyn Collins ninth; 200m hurdles- Collins sixth; 4x100- first; high jump- Oakley Wardell second, Hendershot eighth; long jump- Collins fifth; triple jump- Leah Hessenthaler fourth, Wardell seventh, Hendershot ninth; discus- Adele Rose 10th; shot put- Ayvah Mcillwaine third.

 

Seventh grade

Seventh grader Brhysan Henton had two third-place finishes, one in the 100-meter dash with the time of 13.39 and also in the high jump, where he cleared the 4-11 bar. Dallas Romero also had a third-place finish in the long jump, leaping 13-8.5 to secure his spot. 

Both Gage Angell and James Sanders placed second in their respective events. For Angell, this was the triple jump, where he jumped 28-9.5. Sanders placed second in the discus. His throw Saturday was 80-9.

The seventh-grade 4x100 team placed first in a time of 52.23.

Other Lovell seventh-grade boys results (top 10) were:

200m- Dallas Romero fourth, Brhysan Henton sixth; 4x200- fourth; high jump- Romero fourth, Tre Clark sixth; long jump- Gage Angell fifth, James Sanders eighth; discus- Thomas Nichols fifth; shot put- Nichols- third.

Nellie Guccion placed first in the 400m dash, 800-meter run and 1,600-meter run. Guccion ran the 400 in 1:03.97. She later ran 2:31.70 in the 800 and 5:34.11 in the 1,600. These plus a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter hurdles gave the seventh grade girls team 35 points to add to their total.

Makynna Mayes placed first in the long jump, securing her win by jumping 14-3.5.

The Lovell seventh-grade girls swept the triple jump event, placing first, second and third. Gemma Walker placed first with a jump of 29-9.5. Emily Sanders placed second with a jump of 28-3, a new personal record for her. Olivia Rael ended in third, jumping 26-6, a personal record for her, as well.

100m- Treleah Two Two third, Garcia sixth, Rebecca Stoker ninth, Makynna Mayes 10th; 200m- Evalina Garcia eighth; 400m- Chloe Asay fourth, Two Two fifth, Hailey Ballard sixth; 800m- Asay second, Catherine Zollman fifth; 1,600- Asay second; 100m hurdles- Paige Asay 10th; high jump- Emily Sanders fourth, Gemma Walker sixth; long jump- Olivia Rael sixth, Walker eighth; pole vault- Sanders fourth, Kylie Nicholls sixth; shot put- Chloe Asay seventh, Catherine Zollman ninth.

 

Eighth grade

The Lovell Middle School eighth grade boys had three relays compete at conference, one placing fourth and two placing third. The 4x200 relay team placed third and ran 1:59.06. The 4x400 team also placed third and ran 5:51.30.

Other Lovell eighth-grade boys results (top 10) were:

200m- Garrett Henley ninth, Connor Harris 10th; 400m- Mason Kitchen ninth; 1,600- Jackson Sanders 10th; high jump- Bradley Mickelson fourth; long jump- Mickelson sixth, Landon Asay seventh, Kitchen 10th; triple jump- Henley fourth, Asay fifth, Mickelson eighth; discus- Asay sixth, Landen Peterson ninth; shot put- Peterson eighth.

Eighth grader Janelle Asay placed first in the high jump event at the conference meet. Asay cleared the 4-7 bar to secure this placing and a personal record for her. 

Rubie Weber had two second-place finishes at conference. Weber placed second in the long jump, jumping 13-9.75. Weber went on to place second in the triple jump, leaping 32-3. 

Oakley Bischoff also placed second in an event. For her, it was the pole vault. Bischoff cleared the 7-6 pole to place her in second, matching a personal record for her.

100m- Oakley Anderson third; 200m- Anderson third; 400m- Macee Winterholler sixth; 800m- Winterholler third; 100m hurdles- Anderson third, Janelle Asay seventh; 200m hurdles- Asay fourth; 4x200- second; 4x400- third; long jump- Laney Felkins fifth, Anderson 10th; triple jump- Felkins seventh, Harper Walker eighth; discus- Taylor Henderson fifth; shot put- Henderson ninth.

If they had previously prequalified, the middle school athletes completed their track season by competing in the Best of the Best meet in Lander on Tuesday, May 12. Coverage for this meet will be in next week’s edition of the Lovell Chronicle.
