The Lovell Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade A teams wrapped up their season as conference champions in their respective brackets.

The seventh-grade team played Saturday morning in Powell, going into the bracket as the number one seed at the tournament. Their first game was played against Riverton, and they swept their opponents off the court in two sets, 25-16, 25-23. This victory
landed them in the finals against Cody.

Though losing the first set to Cody 17-25, the Bulldogs managed to persevere and win the next two sets 25-7 and 15-4 to claim the championship.

“It was a true team effort to win the conference tournament,” said head coach Marci Durtsche. “Every player stepped up, did their job and played to their full potential. We played some tough opponents, but by working together and staying focused, we were able to come out on top. I couldn’t be prouder of how my team competed this weekend.”

The eighth-grade team went into their tournament bracket as the number one seed in Worland. They defeated Lander 2-1 in sets with scores of 25-18, 23-25 and 15-11 to land them a spot in the finals against Riverton. The girls wasted no time on the court and beat Riverton in two sets, 25-23 and 25-9, giving them the title of Yellowstone Conference champions.
