Local swimmers perform well at ‘challenging meet’
On January 31, the Powell boys swimming team competed in Buffalo. Coach Jerry Rodriguez said, “It was a challenging meet for the boys, but they did well.”
There were a few placings at this meet for local swimmers. Will Fuller took fourth place in the 200-yard free and fifth in the 100-yard free; Conner Mayes took third in the 200-yard individual medley and first in the 500-yard free; Hugh Carpenter placed third in the 50-yard free and third in the 100-yard fly; and Gabe Buchholz took second in the 500-yard free.
Powell High School also competed in a dual with Cody High School on January 28. There were many placings at this matchup. Fuller took third in the 50-yard free and second in the 100-yard back; Carpenter took second in the 200-yard free, second in the 200-yard individual medley and third in the 500-yard free; Buchholz placed fifth in the 100-yard fly; and Mayes took fourth in the 100-yard fly and second in the 100-yard breast.
