Lovell animal control: Everyone and everything deserves to be loved and find a home
Nestled on Dudley Drive, surrounded by sunflowers that sway gently in the breeze, Lovell Animal Control stands as a sanctuary for the town’s lost and stray animals.
It’s more than just a shelter; it’s a place where hope blooms, much like the vibrant flowers that line its perimeter. Here, under the care of Jessica Throssell, every animal that arrives is treated with love, compassion and the promise of a better tomorrow.
Throssell, who runs the shelter, isn’t just doing a job – she’s following a calling. Her passion for animals, especially those neglected or forgotten, drives her every day. For Throssell, each animal that comes through the door isn’t just a stray, it’s a living, breathing creature with a story, a soul and a longing for a place to call home.
“There’s something about the way animals look at you when they’re scared or lost,” Throssell said. “It’s like they’re asking, ‘Can you help me? Can you love me?’ And the answer is always yes.”
Currently, the shelter is home to several animals, each with its own story. A feline recently found entrapped at the intersection of West Second Street and Kansas Avenue is now safe at the shelter, waiting to be reunited with its owner or adopted into a new home. Then there’s the mysterious cat found frolicking on First Street, possibly feral and yet to reveal its gender. This cat, like so many others, is just waiting for someone to offer it a second chance.
A dog found wandering on the 100 block of Kansas Avenue is also under Throssell’s care. Now available for adoption, this friendly canine is looking for someone to see past its rough start and give it the love it deserves.
“Each of these animals is just like us,” Throssell said. “They want to feel safe, loved and at home.”
Lovell Animal Control does more than just house animals; it nurtures them. The shelter’s mission is to provide a safe space for these animals to heal, both physically and emotionally, until they find their forever homes. Throssell’s dedication to this cause is evident in every interaction, every small gesture of care.
The shelter’s location, surrounded by the sunflowers that reach toward the sky, serves as a beautiful metaphor for the work being done inside. Just as the sunflowers turn their faces to the sun, the animals in Throssell’s care turn toward the hope of a brighter future. With every adoption, with every animal that finds its way home, Lovell Animal Control reaffirms its commitment to the belief that every creature deserves love and a place to belong.
For those who are interested in adopting, reuniting with a lost pet or simply learning more about the work being done, Lovell Animal Control welcomes visits to their facility at 1052 Dudley Drive. Throssell can also be reached via email at throssell@lovellpolice.com for inquiries.
In Lovell, the community’s care extends to its animals, thanks to the positive and meaningful work of Lovell Animal Control. With the sunflowers as a backdrop and the dedication of people like Throssell, the shelter is more than just a safe haven – it’s a place where second chances blossom.
