The Lovell High School FFA chapter recently held its annual awards banquet where chapter leaders presented FFA Chapter, Greenhand and Honorary degrees to fellow members. Members were also recognized for outstanding work in their respective fields, and officers for the upcoming school year 2024-25 were announced.

FFA advisor Nick Edelman welcomed guests and introduced current FFA officers: president Croix Tryon, vice president Michael Harris, secretary Elyssa Croft, treasurer Kasey Jordan, reporter Augastina Lembke and sentinel Jasper Hatch.

The following students received FFA Chapter degrees: Lembke, Jordan, Brittany Aagard, Hatch and Cortni Knop. The chapter degree is one of the highest awards a chapter bestows upon its members. To qualify for the award students must first receive their Greenhand degree, complete at least 180 hours of systematic school instruction or an approved supervised agricultural experience (SAE) and be enrolled in agricultural education. They must also invest $150 “by their own efforts” or work 45 hours beyond class time. Additionally, they must show achievement in FFA award programs and have satisfactory grades.

Individual members were recognized with an FFA “star” for their outstanding SAE projects. Lembke received a star in equine production proficiency, Tryon in agricultural communications, Addisyn Perkins in sheep production, Lembke in dairy production, Jordan in poultry production, Cadence Workman in goat production, Hatch in beef production, Kate Cooper in small animal production, Payton Tillett in forage crop production, Harris in agricultural mechanic design and fabrication, Lembke in crop production, Jordan in soil and water management, Janemarie McKay in vegetable production, Jordan in diversified livestock, Harris in diversified crop production, Hatch in agricultural placement, Jordan in diverse agricultural production and Perkins in agribusiness.

JeriLyn Love presented the Dennis Love Memorial Award to Michael Harris.

Seven students were awarded Greenhand degrees. Those students were Kyra Blank, KC Christenson, Cooper, Mark Durfee, Keira Gossens, Chance Hatch and Perkins.

To show appreciation for their support of the program, the following community members were awarded honorary FFA memberships: Wayne and Kimmy Curtis, April Price, Keith and Julie Harris and, in memoriam, the late Dennis Love.

Edelman named Croix Tryon as star farmer of the year.

Officers for the upcoming school year 2024-25 were announced during a special induction ceremony. Jordan was named president, Jasper Hatch vice president, Perkins secretary, Croft treasurer, McKay reporter and Lembke sentinel.
