Lovell golfers stay positive through tough outing at Worland

The Lovell High School golf teams competed in Worland last week, and coach Dane Robertson said the teams had a love/hate relationship with the Worland course.
“There were some good scores posted, as well as some scores that were displeasing to the stomach,” he said.
For the girls, Kenley Wilson placed 13th after posting her career best on the second day of competition with a score of 87, following a respectable 99 on the first day.
“If she continues to play that way, she will be the recipient of some conference and state accolades,” Robertson said.
Makinli Mowery and Madalyn McCollam tied for 24th with a two-day total of 209.
The boys team faced some significant struggles with the Worland course.
“The boys’ golf games stayed on the bus, but I was actually happy with their attitudes through their struggles,” Robertson said. “They continued to fight and post the best score they could, even after some pretty gnarly holes.”
Kaeson Anderson finished in 28th with a score of 184, while Kellan Jackson shot a 195 and Rocco Rael tallied 201.
Jacob Thomas scored 209, and Kade Durtsche competed as a JV golfer and shot a 103 on day one but did not compete on day two.
The girls team finished in seventh with a team total of 604 strokes, and the
boys finished in eighth with a score of 780.
The teams will head to Buffalo to compete in the Buffalo Invitational this Thursday and
Friday before hosting the 3A West conference tournament the following Thursday and Friday at the Foster Gulch Golf Course.
