The Lovell High School golf teams competed in Thermopolis at the Thermop Invite last Thursday and Friday and saw significant improvement in individual scores.

“Thermopolis proved to be a much better place for us,” coach Dane Robertson said. “Kaeson Anderson placed in the top five over the two-day tournament, and we had quite a few players shoot their personal bests.”

Robertson bragged that Rocco Rael shot a 90 on day 2, which he said was awesome for him, being in only his second tournament.

“Jaxon Hayes shot a 91 in his second round to better his score by a mind-boggling 15 strokes from day one,” Robertson said. “All of our five varsity boys shot under 100 on one of the two days, so we’re definitely seeing some progress being made.”

Robertson said the girls saw some success and some challenges.

“When all three of them put together the rounds that they desire, we will have a very good team score to be posted,” he said. “They have all the talent they need; they just need to string 36 holes together.”

The teams will head to the Worland Invitational this Thursday and Friday to face another big field of teams.

“We will be looking to capitalize on what we are doing well and seek to better our faults this week in practice to be prepared,” Robertson said.
