Lovell JV gridders split season-openers

The Lovell High School junior varsity squad had two wildly different outcomes on the football field to open the 2024 season.

Saturday, the Bulldogs crushed Buffalo on the road, 53-26, but on Monday, the Bulldogs fell to Worland 36-7.

Coach Michael Jameson said of the Buffalo rout: “Offensively, we had several explosive plays from our running backs (freshmen Anthony Garcia and Hunter Krei and junior Cash Wassmer).
We had six interceptions on defense and overall played  well on both sides of the ball.”

Following the disappointing loss to Worland Monday, Jameson noted, “We didn’t rise to the physical level that Worland played with and found some specific areas we need to improve on, but we’re happy with the effort so far this year.”

The Bulldogs will return to action Monday with a 4 p.m. kickoff in Cody against the Cody Bronc freshman team.
