The Lovell Lady Bulldog junior varsity squad continued their winning ways over the weekend at the East-West Classic, beating both Douglas and Burns in their two contests at Lander Valley High School.

Lovell topped always strong Douglas 48-32 and crushed Burns 59-7.

In the Douglas game Lovell trailed 18-16 at halftime but outscored the Bearcats 32-14 in the second half.

Brooklin Clark led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 points, and Kaydree Owens added 10 points, Kindle Collins 7, Ali Walker 5, Kandace Asay and Hannity Felkins 4 each and Jenna Hessenthaler and Avery Walker 3 apiece.

Lovell dominated Burns from the get-go, winning the four quarters 15-2, 17-2, 11-1 and 16-2. Ali Walker finished with 14 points, Avery Walker 12, Owens 7, Asay and Ava Edwards 6 each, Felkins 4, Kindle Collins, Hessenthaler and Caylee Herman 3 apiece, Kira Collins 1.

“The JV had a great weekend,” coach Jen Hessenthaler said. “Douglas gave us good competition, and we were able to play great defense and keep them under steady pressure. The girls did well adjusting to different defenses Douglas threw at us. The girls recognized it and adjusted offensively. Douglas was pretty rattled and frustrated the whole game.

“Burns was a good game for us to try out some different things on offense. We challenged the girls to pass the ball around on offense and try out some layers of the offense they aren’t comfortable with yet. Unfortunately for Burns, our girls converted many of them. All of the girls scored in this game, which was awesome. Our four freshmen played most of the second half and did amazing. The future looks bright for the Bulldogs.”
