Lovell Middle School netters off to strong start
The 2026 Lovell Middle School volleyball season is well underway six competition dates already completed.
Seventh-grade coach Marci Durtsche provided the season scores for her team so far:
Thermop at home -- Seventh-grade A team: W 25-11, W25-17, W 15-13; B team: L 20-25, W 25-20,W 15-8.
Cody away -- A team: L 19-25, L 20-25; B team: L 11-25, L 22-25; C team: L 18-25, L 25-27.
Worland away -- A team: W 25-17, L 16-25, W 25-17; B team: L 11-25, W 25-14, L 23-25.
Rocky at home -- A team: W 25-10, 25-13,15-9; B team: W 25-10, 25-23, 15-11.
Cody in Powell – A team: L 21-25; W 25-20, L 9-15; B team: W 25-22, W 25-19, L 7-15.
Powell in Powell -- A team: W 25-12, W 25-12, L 4-15; B team: W 25-19, L 13-25, W 16-4.
“The middle school volleyball season is off to a great start,” Durtsche said. “Our Bulldogs have been working hard in practice and showing steady improvement each time they step out on the court. The A team has an overall record of 4-2, the only losses coming from Cody both times. The B team overall record is 4-2, not counting the C games, with losses coming from Cody and Worland.
“Our next conference game is Tuesday, Sept. 22, at home against Worland.”
Eighth grade
Lovell eighth-grade head coach Kristin Warner provided the following scores for the A team so far this season:
8/28 – Thermopolis at home: Lovell won 27-25, 23-25, 15-9.
9/1 – At Cody: Lovell fell 13-25, 10-25, 8-15.
9/8 – Worland at home: Lovell won 25-19, 25-13, 17-15.
9/10 -- Rocky Mtn. at home: Lovell won 20-25, 25-15, 15-8.
9/12 – Powell at home: Lovell lost 25-14, 24-26, 9-15.
9/12 – Cody at home: Lovell won 25-17, 25-17, 9-15.
“The eighth-grade girls A team has been showing great improvement so far this season,” Warner said. “We struggled a bit at first due to limited practice time, but now that they have been playing games, they are working together so much better on the court. It was great to see the big win against Cody this past Saturday after our loss to them a couple weeks ago. They are a very talented group of athletes, and I’m excited to see how far they grow the rest of the season.”
Like the seventh graders, the eighth-grade squad hosts Worland Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.
