Lovell Middle School runners improve despite the wind at home meet
The Lovell Middle School cross country team hosted a meet last Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Foster Gulch Golf Course. The weather was not ideal for runners, and Coach Joshua Sanders said, “It was extremely windy, but our kids knew it would be, and they were prepared.”
Even with the tough conditions, the team showed immense improvement compared to past years racing on the same course. Three of the girl runners and four of the boy runners improved their previous times.
Hailey Ballard finished in 45th place with a time of 16:12, improving her time by 3:34.
Macie Winterholler finished in 20th place with a final time of 15:02, improving her previous time by nearly 2 minutes.
Evalina Garcia improved her time by 2:28 and finished with a new time of 18:54 in 79th place.

On the boys side, James Sanders had the fastest time on his team. He showed a huge improvement in his time by 4:20. He ended in 17th place with a time of 13:48.
Brock Butler improved his previous time by 1:15, finishing in 51st place with a final time of 15:50.
Daegan Rueter improved his time by 8 seconds and finished with a time of 15:28 in 44th place.
Jackson Sanders beat his previous time by 58 seconds. He ended with a time of 15:40 in 48th place.

Many eighth graders who have been running cross country for several years have been improving their running a lot on the last few courses, Coach Sanders said.
The high school and middle school teams will head to Riverton at the Rendezvous site this Thursday, September 11. The high school JV will start at 3 p.m., followed by varsity at 4:30, with girls racing first, then boys.
The high school and middle school teams will head to Riverton today (Thursday) to compete in the Berry Bryant/Kyle Johnson Invitational at the Riverton Rendezvous site. The girls middle school race will start at noon, followed by the boys middle school at 12:30 p.m., girls junior varsity at 3 p.m., boys JV at 3:30, girls varsity at 4:30 and boys varsity at 5.
