As the 2025 season nears the end, the Rocky Mountain Middle School boys basketball team had a busy schedule this week, though Mother Nature had a say in how many games were actually played.

Games at Riverside Thursday were cancelled due to the snowstorm that day, but the sixth-grade game was rescheduled for Tuesday in Basin.

The three Rocky Mountain teams did host Shoshoni Saturday and won two of the three games.

Shoshoni won the eighth-grade game 36-24. The visitors from Fremont County led 19-17 at halftime, then shut out the Grizzlies 12-0 in the third quarter to take charge of the game.

Jaxx May led the Grizz with 9 points, and Jaxson Sponsel added 6, Jayden Scheeler 5, Lukas Miller 4. May also grabbed 11 rebounds.

The Grizz did win the seventh-grade game in commanding fashion, 41-10, shutting Shoshoni out 9-0 and 11-0 in the second and third quarters. Dally Malson scored 11 points, Madden Cooley 8, Brooks Brost and Ty Samson 7 each, Hudson Moore and Tyler Crosby 4 apiece. Malson snared 14 rebounds and blocked three shots, and Cooley led the team with five steals and four assists.

The Rocky sixth-grade team also romped, 22-3, leading 13-3 at the half and shutting out Shoshoni 9-0 in the second half.

Kaden Baker and William Simmons scored 6 points each for Rocky, Maddox Ward and Karter Miller 4 each and Xavier Hetland and Trevin Green 1 apiece.

Powell/Riverside

Tuesday against Powell, Rocky swept the Panthers, with the eighth grade winning 58-15 and the seventh grade prevailing 31-27.

The Rocky eighth graders shut out Powell 27-0 in the first quarter and cruised from there. May finished with 23 points, Sponsel 12, Tejeo Scheeler 9, Lukas Miller 6 and Malson, Cameron Minchow, Rowan Hanusa and Jayden Scheeler 2 apiece.

The RMMS seventh graders trailed Powell 21-17 after three quarters but outscored the Panthers 14-6 in the fourth. Malson finished with 14 points, Brost and Moore 6 each and Samson 5. Malson pulled down 12 rebounds for a double-double.

The sixth-grade squad fell to Riverton in Basin Tuesday, 20-19. Tripp Hopkin scored 7 points, Baker 4 and Ward, Simmons, Miller and Cody Kougal 2 each.

Final trio

The Grizzlies will play the final three games of the regular season this weekend and early next week. They host Burlington this afternoon (Thursday) at 4:15 p.m., travel to Thermopolis Saturday for a 10 a.m. tip-off and host Greybull Monday for a 4:15 p.m. tap.

The A team conference tournament will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, in Thermop while the B/C team tourney is held in Shoshoni.
