Middle school netters continue strong seasons

Local middle school volleyball teams have kept up a busy schedule in recent weeks.

On September 15, the Lovell teams traveled to Burlington. The eighth grade A team fell to the Lady Huskies 21-25, 25-12, 15-9, while the seventh grade A team swept Burlington 25-7, 25-18, 15-9.

A week later, on September 22, the Lady Bulldogs hosted Worland. The eighth grade A team swept the Lady Warriors 25-18. 25-14, 15-8, and the B team won 25-23, 25-14, 15-8. The seventh grade swept both matches, as well, with the A team sweeping 25-21, 25-17, 15-3, and the B team prevailed 25-21, 12-25, 15-9.

“Our girls battled through a hard-fought match against Worland,” seventh grade coach Marci Durtsche said. “The match consisted of big plays and great rallies. It was exciting watching them get some big hits and big blocks.”

On Tuesday, the Lady Bulldogs played in Powell. The eighth grade A team fell 19-25, 25-22, 15-13, while the B team fell 25-22, 25-15, 10-15. The seventh grade A team swept Powell 25-17, 25-19, 17-15, and the B team prevailed 25-23, 24-26, 15-11.

The Lovell netters will play in a pair of quads on Saturday vs. Riverton and Lander, with the seventh grade in Cody and the eighth grade hosting. Action begins at 10 a.m. at each location.

 

Rocky Mountain

The Lady Grizzlies traveled to Shoshoni Saturday and swept the Lady Blue, with the A team winning 25-20, 25-21, 15-9 and the B team winning 25-20, 25-8, 15-10.

“It’s a little hard to get fired up for those morning games, especially when you have to drive two-plus hours, but it was a great weekend for the Lady Grizz,” head coach Lacey Bassett said.

The Lady Grizz travel to Burlington today (Thursday) for a 4:15 p.m. first serve, host Thermopolis Saturday at 10 a.m. and travel to Greybull Monday for a 4:15 p.m. start.
