The Big Horn County Little League Minors all-stars went 1-2 at the All-Stars and Stripes tournament held in Lovell over the weekend.
On Friday, Lovell started strong by dominating Greybull 16-1 in the opening game.
The Mustangs connected for 12 hits in the match, led by Jace Jameson’s two inside-the-park home runs that drove in five runs.
Hudson Morgan, Patrick Jameson and Spencer Walker also had a pair of hits in the game while James Henderson, Taysom Butler, Luke Bischoff and Logan Timpany added one each.
On the mound, Esson Anderson struck out four batters in two innings and only walked two to allow the one run Greybull scored.
Timpany provided an inning of relief on the mound and struck out two to finish the game.
Next, the Mustangs fell to the Cody Cubs by a score of 9-5.
Other than giving up five runs in the opening inning, the team’s pitching and defense was solid and Lovell tried to chip away at the lead.
Jamen Crosby, Jace Jameson, Kooper May, Henderson and Butler collected the five hits for the Mustangs at the plate.
On the hill, Bischoff, Henderson, Jace Jameson, Crosby and May all chipped in to complete the game.
On Saturday, the 1-1 pool play results matched Lovell up against Powell in the opening round of bracket play.
Things did not go as planned, and the Mustangs lost 13-7 to the Powell all-stars.
Offensively, the team was out of sorts and only totaled five hits and struck out an uncharacteristic 14 times.
Players who had hits in the game were Walker, May, Henderson, Jace Jameson and Morgan.
Patrick Jameson got the start on the mound before May pitched in relief to get out of the first inning.
May collected nine strikeouts in 3.1 innings before Jace Jameson finished the final two innings pitching.
The loss eliminated the Mustangs from the tournament, and they will now practice to prepare for the district tournament hosted by Bridger Valley July 10-13.
