Mitchel Baird Zeller

Aug. 10, 1044 – Sept. 10, 2023

Mitchel Baird Zeller, 79, of Aloha, Oregon, passed away Sept. 10, 2023, at the Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland due to complications from a heart attack. He was a kind and generous man and a wonderful neighbor and will be missed by those that were fortunate enough to know him. He loved his family.

Mitchel was born on Aug. 10, 1944, in Lovell. He was the oldest of six children born to Clarence and Bessie (Baird) Zeller. He was raised on the family farm in Lovell and attended Lovell High School, graduating with the Class of 1962. He then attended Utah State University for one year.

Mitchel had worked at his family’s honeybee business when he was a young boy. He then started long haul truck driving in the mid 1970s and had retired in the mid 1990s. His family said he had been everywhere as Mitchel liked to share his traveling stories.

He was an avid fisherman and loved to go crabbing. He was a master gardener, canning all his crops. He was also into HO Scale trains and even converted his garage into a scale model town for his hobby.

He married the love of his life, Jane, in Campbell River, B.C., on July 31, 1991, while on a fishing vacation trip. They made their home in Aloha, Oregon. They enjoyed their summers at their trailer in Chinook, Washington, where he would stay for the summer to fish and enjoy his camp family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Von Zeller.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Jane; daughters Linda (Del) Cobbley of Brigham City, Utah, Connie (John) Wolf of Perry, Utah, and Tawnya Zeller of Ogden, Utah; siblings Annella Prosser, JoAnn Schueler, Gene (Ginny) Zeller and Sidney (Laurence) Pitt; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a memorial celebration of life for him in the spring of 2024.
