Mustang Days 2024: Let the Games Begin! – this weekend

Let the Games Begin! is the theme for the 2024 Mustang Days celebration, which begins Friday and continues through next Saturday, June 29.

The ’24 celebration is similar to last year, with a few new wrinkles.

Here’s an outline of this year’s event:

Friday, June 21

8 p.m. – Drag Main event featuring classic, antique and show cars. Donations will be taken for funds to support the annual fireworks display, which costs around $6,000 to stage, according to Mustang Days chairwoman Darece Grant. Drivers can simply drive to Main Street and join in the loop from one end of Main to the other.

Saturday, June 22

10 a.m. – Youth Triathlon for ages 8-18, beginning at the Lovell swimming pool, sponsored by the Lovell Recreation District and BOCES. Entry fees are $10 for an individual and $20 for a team. The event includes a 100-meter swim, 1.5-mile bicycle ride and half mile run. Find details at www.lovellrecandboces.com or call Kristin Henley at 548-6466 or 307-250-0892.

1 p.m. – Lovell Rod and Gun Club Youth .22 Shoot at the Lovell Trap Range off Highway 37 northeast of Lovell with registration at 12:30 p.m. The $10 fee includes a meal.

Sunday, June 23

Noon – Lovell Rod and Gun Club Trap Shoot with registration and practice at 11 a.m. The $30 fee includes a meal. Non-participants may purchase a meal for $3.

Monday, June 24

5 p.m. – Lovell Rod and Gun Club Top Gun Shoot. The $20 registration fee includes a meal. Non-participants may purchase a meal for $3.

Tuesday, June 25

6 p.m. – Mustang Days Cornhole Tournament, Great Western Park, sponsored by KB Hardware and Lumber. Register by calling Kade Baxendale at 307-272-5620. There is a $20 registration fee per team.

Wednesday, June 26

6:30 p.m. – Dollies of the Follies and the Mustang Band on Main Street in front of the Hyart Theatre.

7:30 p.m. – First performance of the Mustang Follies at the Hyart Theatre. Reserved seating only for $6 per ticket at www.ticketor.com/LovellMustangDays. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 21, at 6 p.m. Tickets may also be purchased from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Lovell Area Chamber of Commerce Building at 287 East Main Street and each evening before the show from 6:30 to 7:30 at the chamber office if any tickets are still available.

Thursday, June 27

6-8 p.m. – Car show on Nevada Avenue in front of CarQuest with check-in at 5 p.m.

6:30 p.m. – Dollies of the Follies and the Mustang Band on Main Street in front of the Hyart Theatre.

7:30 p.m. – Second performance of the Mustang Follies at the Hyart Theatre.

Friday, June 28

6-10 a.m. – Mustang Breakfast at the Lovell Fire Hall, hosted by North Big Horn Hospital. The meal costs $8 for adults and $5 for children.

5-8 p.m. – Family Fun Night at the Lovell Middle School practice field with food vendors on site. Unlimited activity wristbands available for $5 each, and individual game tickets are 25 cents each. Food tickets are $3.

8 p.m. – Street Dance next to Minchow’s Service featuring The Rewinders.

8 p.m. – Rodeo Calcutta at the Diamond J Bar.

9 p.m. to midnight – Teen Night at the LHS Johnny Winterholler Gymnasium for ages 14 through 18. Tickets are $5 per student. The evening will include snacks, a DJ and door prizes.

Saturday, June 29

6-9 a.m. – Mustang Breakfast at the Fire Hall, hosted by North Big Horn Hospital.

7:30 a.m. – Fun Run sponsored by Club Dauntless. Line up on Third Street in front of the Bank of Lovell with registration at 7 a.m., featuring a 5K run and a one mile walk or run. $10 entry fee.

10 a.m. – Mustang Days Rose Parade with lineup at the Lovell High School parking lot at 9 a.m. To enter, call or text Kristine Henley at 307-250-0892.

11 a.m. – Hamburger and hot dog lunch at the Chamber of Commerce building sponsored by Tri-Mountain View Masonic Lodge No. 35.

1 p.m. – Co-ed volleyball tournament sponsored by Lovell Rec and BOCES, Armory Park softball field. Entry fee is $60 per team. Register at www.lovellrecandboces.com. Check in at 12:30 p.m.

1 p.m. – Mustang Days Golf Tournament at Foster Gulch sponsored by Midway Construction. Register at the golf course.

2 p.m. – Rodeo slack sponsored by the Lovell Rodeo Club, rodeo grounds.

4 p.m. – Rodeo main event at the rodeo grounds followed by the Smoking Aces Band concert. Tickets at $10 for adults and $5 for kids includes the concert.

9 p.m. – Mustang Days Fireworks Display daytime show, Lovell Middle School grass field.

Dusk – Mustang Days Pyro Musical Fireworks, LMS grass field. Box seats sold at www.ticketor.com/LovellMustangDays starting at 6 p.m. Friday, June 21, and at the Lovell Area Chamber of Commerce office June 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.
