Mustang Days parade results announced
A replica of the original Lutheran Church, commemorating the upcoming 100-year anniversary of the congregation, was overall winner at the Mustang Days parade held on Main Street in Lovell on Saturday. Patti Carpenter photo[/caption]The parade also included floats honoring veterans, volunteer firemen, the 100-year anniversary of the sugar factory, the 40-year anniversary of the Queen Bee Gardens candy factory, rodeo royalty, the local senior center and more, along with many entries by local businesses, politicians and others.In a longstanding tradition, the “Dollies of the Follies” provided dance entertainment to music provided by the local Mustang Band. The Dollies have been regulars at Mustang Days events for more than 50 years.This year’s parade began at the west end of Main Street, travelling in only one direction and terminating on the east end of town. A small contingent of children started a parade of their own from the opposite end of town about an hour before the main parade began.The parade was well attended and blessed with exceptionally good weather. The earlier starting time contributed to cooler temperatures during the parade.Parade resultsOverall winner: St. John’s Lutheran Church. Club/Class Reunion: 1st place- Class of 1976, 2nd place- Class of 1961. Non- Profit: 1st-Vacation Bible School, 2nd-Lovell Volunteer Fire Dept. Commercial/Business: 1st (tie) Big Horn Federal and First Bank of Wyoming. Band/Dance: 1st- Wyoming Fiddlers and 2nd- the “Dollies of the Follies.” Livestock: 1st- The Cowgirl Up Rodeo Drill Team, 2nd (tie) Cowley Rodeo Royalty and Running Horse Realty.
