Mustangs B squad whomps Greybull
The Lovell American Legion baseball season is well underway, and the Mustangs B team got their first win of the year on Saturday in Greybull, where they cruised to a 20-3 victory.
The Mustangs tacked on a quick seven runs in the top of the first inning and poured on another two in the second, four in the fourth, and two in the fifth to take a 15-0 lead.
Greybull finally got on the board by plating three runs in the bottom of the fifth, but Lovell answered back with five more runs in the top of the sixth to claim the 20-3 win.
For the Mustangs, Rocco Rael and Easton Morgan led the way at the plate with three hits each, while Aaiden Walker added a pair of hits.
Mac Morgan, Kannon Owens, Dallin Bischoff, Jaxen Baxendale, Dax Mangus and Ryan Grant each connected for a hit for the Mustangs for a team total of 14 in the game.
On the mound for the Mustangs, Mac Morgan got the nod for the start and went 2.2 innings, striking out eight and walking two Greybull batters.
Walker provided middle relief in the game for 1.1 innings and struck out three before Mangus closed out the final two innings and fanned another two batters.
The Mustangs B and C squads played in Powell on Wednesday night and will be at home on Tuesday, May 13, at 6 p.m. to face Greybull again.
