With the new enhancements continuing to be made at Armory Park, more and more kids and families are flocking to the area to partake in activities.

The Town of Lovell prioritizes safety on its streets and has continued to do so by adding a new crosswalk at the corner of 6th Street and Oregon Avenue.

With the uptick in kids riding scooters, bikes and skateboards heading toward the town’s skatepark and splash pad, that intersection has become the main path to get there.

“Kids need a safe route to get to the park,” Town of Lovell Public Works director Adrin Mayes said. “This will provide a clearly marked area for children and drivers to be on the lookout for one another while crossing.”

Additionally, the yield signs at the intersection of 3rd Street and Montana Avenue that were facing east and west have now been replaced with stop signs running north and south.

Traffic has increased in the area due to the relocation of the police department to 3rd Street with more and more congestion where the two streets converge.

“Vehicles have had to slow down for the dip in the street before but now must come to a full stop,” Mayes added. “It is mainly about safety and to decrease traffic speed that hasn’t always occurred there previously.”
