A night of champions: Rocky Mountain wrestlers celebrate season
The Rocky Mountain wrestling team closed out its season last week with an end-of-year banquet filled with awards, laughter and reflection on March 23.
The banquet brought together wrestlers, coaches and families to celebrate a season marked by growth, hard work and success on the mat. Teammates shared stories, and the room carried a sense of pride in what the group accomplished together.
Head coach Eddie Whiting handed out a series of individual awards, adding a personal touch to each by sharing stories about the athletes, drawing plenty of laughs from the crowd while also highlighting the dedication behind each honor.
The Spirit of the Grizz awards went to Colten Bitton and Emmilee Wambeke, while Benson Jolley and Sky Olsen were named Rookies of the Year.
Sam Loyning and Grace McAlhany earned Most Improved Wrestler honors after strong seasons of development.
Top individual honors went to Triffen Jolley and Charlee Anderson, who were named the team’s Most Valuable Wrestlers. Masen Twomey was recognized as the team’s Top State-Ranked Wrestler.
Several athletes also received acknowledgement for postseason success. Earning all-conference honors were Gabriel Whiting, Loyning, Triffen Jolley and Twomey. Whiting and Twomey were also named all-state, capping off standout performances throughout the year.
The evening served as a final chance for the team to reflect on the season, celebrate their accomplishments and recognize the effort, resilience and teamwork that defined Rocky Mountain wrestling this year.
