North Big Horn Arts Council being restarted
Four local individuals are in the process of reorganizing the North Big Horn Arts Council with hopes of staging a Christmas play and bringing music and other programming to the community.
Board member Bryan Baird said the group is in the process of filing paperwork and establishing bylaws for a 501c3 corporation.
Other board members are Kurt Wheeler, Rebecca Bates and Sharon Hall, and Baird said the group would like to have at least one other primary board member, then develop a larger advisory board with interest or expertise in specific areas.
Baird said the group is planning to stage a Christmas play this year, with dates pending, noting that the Hyart Theatre board has been “extremely encouraging and helpful.”
“We’re hoping to generate enough activity and events over the course of a year to augment what the Hyart is doing to operate and continue to renovate the facility,” Baird added. “They seem to be motivated and are open to more activity.”
Baird said the arts council is hoping to stage “It’s a Wonderful Life” in a form that has a smaller cast of some five to 15 performers plus a few roles for kids. Auditions will be held in early August.
The council is also looking into other kinds of performances and presentations including visual arts, music, comedy and more, including the use of the new amphitheater in Lovell.
Anyone interested in getting involved is asked to contact Baird at 307-254-1399.
