North Big Horn Rams wrestle tough at Greybull and Billings tournaments
The North Big Horn Rams wrestling club attended a tournament in Greybull on March 23. The team competed with opponents from 27 other teams across Wyoming. Within those brackets, many managed to bring home some hardware by the end of the day. Folkstyle was wrestled first, in which many of the Rams found themselves sitting within the top four of their brackets.
Corban Haslem pinned two of his opponents and won against other one by a 5-3 decision to land him in first place in the 8U 43-45 division.
Cotey Smith took first place in the 8U 49 division after pinning four of his opponents in under a minute and taking a 15-4 major decision over his fifth opponent.
Kali Jameson took first place in the 8U 62B folk style tournament by pinning all her opponents. She competed in the girls 8U 62 division to take home another gold medal in folkstyle.
Havana Martinez beat her opponent twice to take first place in the 8U 85 division.
Carson Marberry beat all five of his opponents to take first place in the 10U 71 division.
Corbin Henley pinned his opponent twice to land in first place in the 10U 93-105 division.
Alex Mcillwaine pinned both of his opponents in the 12U 135-160 division to take first place.
Kaylynn Mickelson pinned her opponent twice, both times being under a minute, to land her in first place in the 14U female 92-111 weight division.

On the Freestyle side of the tournament, the Rams wrestled tough to secure some medals.
Bradley Abraham came in first in the 8U 43-46 division, pinning his opponent in 1:25.
Cotey Smith landed in first place in the 8U 49 division, tech-falling two of his opponents and pinning the third.
Kali Jameson wrestled the 8U 62 division, pinning her first opponent in a minute and seven seconds and tech falling her second opponent to take first place. Jameson double-bracketed and took first place in the 8U female 62 division, as well, pinning her first opponent in twenty-seven seconds and tech-falling the second.
Havana Martinez competed in the 8U 70-85 division, pinning her opponent twice to secure first place.
Anthony Mcillwaine took first after pinning his opponent two out of three times in his round robin in the 8U 85+ weight class.
Kannon Bassett pinned both opponents in under a minute to land him first of the 10U 63 division.
Carson Marberry took first in the 10U 71-73 division by tech falling two of his opponents and beating the third by a 15-6 decision.
Corbin Henley secured first in the 10U 93-105 weight division after pinning his opponent back-to-back in under thirty seconds both times.
Vada Schmidt took first after pinning her opponent twice in the 14U female 115-127 weight division.

Billings tournament
While most of the North Big Horn Rams competed in Greybull, a handful of team members traveled to Billings that weekend to compete at the Montana Open. The Montana Open is a massive tournament that creates brackets for almost all ages, including their open division. This year, participants from more than 195 teams came looking to secure the bison skull, the trophy one will receive for reigning over their bracket.
James Love competed in the 18U 285-pound weight class. Love cleared all three of his opponents to land him in the finals where he faced Nathan Willoughby, the 2A 285 Idaho high school state champion. The two state champions wrestled tough on each other, both looking to secure the bison skull trophy. By the second period, Love managed to catch Willoughby on his back and secure a pin, putting him at the top of his bracket at the Montana Open.
Cayden Dickerson wrestled in the 10U 53-pound weight division. Though losing his first match by a tough 14-11 decision, Dickerson managed to wrestle back on the left side of the bracket to secure third place, going 3-1 overall.
Hayden Harshman took fourth out of 22 kids wrestling in the 10U 85-pound weight class. His overall record for the meet was 4-2.
Hawk Hecker wrestled in the 8U 54 pound weight class, which had 44 other competitors. He managed to take fourth place overall with a record of 4-2.
August Guccion wrestled tough the 8U 66 weight division which had 32 other opponents. He took some losses but held a record of 4-2, which landed him in fifth place of his bracket.
Jacob Mickelson competed in the 185 pound open division and held a record of 3-2. Mickelson ended up taking fifth place after beating his final opponent by an 11-1 major decision.
Cardon Mickelson wrestled in the 160-pound open division, ending up in sixth place overall with a 1-3 record.
Other participants of the Montana Open tournament were Braxton Layne, Zander Stahl, Quinton Hecker, Kyler Marchant, Landon Marchant, Myzek McArthur and Joseph Mickelson.
