NWC welcomes First Secretary and Consul of Turkmen Embassy

Northwest College will host Shohrat Pirmuhammedov, First Secretary and Consul at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Washington, D.C., for a presentation on Tuesday, April 29. The event will take place in the Yellowstone Building Conference Center from 12 to 1 p.m. The program, titled “Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality: 30 Years of Peace and Diplomacy,” is free and open to the public and includes lunch.

Mr. Pirmuhammedov’s presentation will cover information about the country of Turkmenistan, its status of permanent neutrality, foreign policy and the United Nations resolution for 2025, declared the Year of Peace and Trust. The declaration was initiated by Turkmenistan and supported by the UN General Assembly.

While visiting Northwest College, Pirmuhammedov will meet with NWC’s 11 Turkmen students, along with senior administrators, faculty and various program coordinators, as well as tour campus. His brief trip to the region also includes a day at Montana State University Billings.

Pirmuhammedov has held the position of First Secretary and Consul at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Washington since 2021. Prior to this, he held the same role at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Vienna, where he was responsible for managing bilateral relations with Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. During his long career in diplomacy, Pirmuhammedov has also held several positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
