Marchant on Wednesday evening, a fine 9¼ pound baby boy – the first boy in the family, and Mr. Marchant is so happy that he had to hobble himself to keep from running away from himself. Tenants in the one-year-old Rose City West apartments have been few and far between. Despite the sparsity of renters, two among 32 units, apartment manager Billie Hampton is optimistic. Hampton said all age groups have inquired about the apartments. She said a few school teachers have also inquired about the units. Although originally conceived as a retirement home, subsequent rulings by the Farmers Home Administration require the apartments be open to all persons regardless of age.

Jack Pearson, one of the original planners of Rose City West, said some limitation is placed on salary. No more than two may live in an apartment, and no children are allowed in the units.

Incoming Rocky Mountain High School senior Jessica Campbell was a member of the gold medal winning team at the Hoopsmart Hawaii Classic.

Campbell, the daughter of Rick and Luann Campbell of Frannie, was invited to the Hawaii tournament. She was nominated for the basketball tournaments by a vote of coaches from around the state, which she said was quite an honor.

She was placed on an eight-man team from Wyoming, Kansas, Minnesota and Indiana. The teams played 12 complete games, starting in pool play, then in the championship bracket. The team lost three games in pool play but was undefeated in bracketed play, Campbell said.
