The Byron High School 6-man football team, coached by Wilford Mower, took the national spotlight last week when they added the 41st and 42nd win to their record. The previous record for a winning streak by a 6-man football team had been held by some eastern team, which dropped out of the running after making a total of 40 wins during the last five years.

To “establish a policy where students must stay on the school bus from the time they board at school until they arrive at their designated stop (home or daycare)” was the main recommendation from the nearly 30 people in attendance at the Lovell school safety and transportation public meeting Tuesday night. Most parents and other interested residents were in agreement that students riding the bus to get closer to home, stay out of the rain or for fun should not be allowed. School bus driver Scott Murphey supported the suggestion, noting it would relieve some liability.

The community walking path proposal that stalled a few years ago could be revived if the Lovell community gets behind a project being proposed by a Bighorn Canyon National Reacreation Area leader to tie in with a Park Service project already being developed.
Bighorn Canyon Chief of Interpretation Christy Fleming said this week that the Park Service is moving ahead with a project to connect the visitor center with the Pryor Mountain Wild Mustang Center with a walking path.
The Town of Lovell a few years ago extended sidewalk on East Main on the north side of the street around the corner to a point at the Mike McArthur residence directly across U.S. 14A from the visitor center, and Fleming’s idea is to tie into that sidewalk and take the project even further if the community is willing.
