There are a lot of range cattle roving about town making life a burden to all who are trying to put in gardens, trees and shrubbery. There’s a city ordinance against this practice and a city stray pen to impound trespassing cattle. Why not round up these pestering mavericks and drive them onto the summer ranges where they belong?

VFW Marble Tourney: Commander Bill Powell of Post 3161, Veterans of Foreign Wars, has set Saturday, May 19, as the day for all eligible boys from Lovell, Cowley and Byron to knuckle down and knock the marbles from the ring. Eligibility is as follows: all grade school boys up to and including eighth grade. The boy must be certified as passing in his grades by his teacher or principal. All eligible boys are urged to be at the high school on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. to enter this contest.
The boy who wins the championship will be taken to Casper on June 2 to compete for the Wyoming State Championship. The winners at Casper will be sent to Albuquerque to compete for the national championship. The champion at Albuquerque will be presented a Whizzer motorbike.

Dean J. Hall is the new Lovell Bible Church pastor. His last pastorage was in Adel, Iowa. He has attended Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankena, Iowa, where he majored in Bible study and music. At Des Moines College he studied human relations, counseling techniques in areas of narcotics, alcohol, parental neglect, divorce, social responsibility, racial problems, runaways, suicides and youth problems. Hall said he will start this type of counseling in Lovell.

Lovell Middle School is getting a new principal. The Big Horn County School District No. 2 Board of Trustees voted to offer a contract to Danny Coe of Laramie in a special meeting Monday. Coe is currently the assistant principal at Laramie Junior High. He has about 15 years of experience in administration.

ElijahBen Jasso, son of Tessa and Elias Jasso and grandson of Sharla and Robert Zwemer, was honored as the top student in the psychology department at NWC during the Student Academic Recognition Reception on Thursday, April 21. Both psychology professors nominated him for the honor. Jasso will graduate from NWC in May with a 4.0 grade point average. He is also a finalist for the Jack Kent Cooke transfer scholarship, one of the most prestigious transfer scholarships in the country.
