The Cowley Progress

The Lovell glass factory is off to a flying start beginning its glassmaking operations last Friday night on the midnight shift. The officers of the Salem Cooperative and the men generally are loud in their praise of the manner in which Master Teaser Whitbore has brought the “batch” up to the high standard of “A” glass within so short a time. Noticeable at all stations are local men who are enlisted to learn some part of the glassmaking industry.

Under the tentative plan, the youths will be paid $5 per dog for each of the first 10 dogs each catches and $8 for every dog over that total. They will provide their own transportation, but be under the supervision of the police department.

Construction is underway on the new Big Horn County jail. County officials broke ground on the project on October 19, and site preparation has begun. The new facility is designed to hold up to 88 inmates, primarily adult males, but it has the capability of housing up to eight female prisoners. It also provides the means for holding juvenile prisoners for a short term.
