Donna Minchow (Educator of the Year) has devoted her entire teaching career to Big Horn County School District No. 1, beginning duties in 1983 as the physical education teacher at the middle school in Deaver and at the Frannie Elementary. In 1984, when the district consolidated, she began traveling between Frannie, Cowley and Byron elementary schools.
Minchow earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Montana College in Billings. She said she selected physical education as her focus area because she likes to stay physically active, rather than being in one spot. She and her husband Jim have three children – Nichole, 15, Heidi, 13, and Jared, 7.
