100 years ago, June 13, 1925

Last week Clinton Black of Otto and Miss Vida Bischoff of Lovell were happily married in the Salt Lake Temple, thus terminating a pretty courtship and completely surprising their many friends. The groom is a son of Mrs. E.R. Block Lythgoe, who not so very long ago returned from a successful four-year mission in South Africa. The bride is a daughter of J.R. Bischoff of Lovell. 

75 years ago, June 15, 1950

The Lovell Chronicle

Lovell Lodge of Oddfellows will celebrate the dedication of their new building on Third Street on Saturday, June 24. Post grand master W.W. Axon of Casper will deliver the dedication address. The uniformed rank of Oddfellowship, the Canton, will put on a full dress drill on Main Street before the evening program.

The lodge will hold open home at their hall from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. The public is invited to visit the building and attend the dedication at 8 p.m.

50 years ago, June 12, 1975

Mr. and Mrs. A.N. Maughan of Idaho Falls, Idaho, announce the engagement of their daughter Linda to R. Bruce Morrison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis E. Morrison of Lovell. 

Miss Maughan is a recent graduate of Brigham Young University. Bruce has served an LDS mission in Peru. They plan an August 1 wedding in the Idaho Falls Temple after which they will reside in Provo, Utah, where Bruce will continue his schooling.

Local residents will have a second option in cable television late this summer, and the new system has implication for the economy of the area. TCT West is working on a system that will provide cable TV service to its customers in Greybull, Basin and Lovell. Randy Lowe, manager of TCT West, said the main package they are looking at offering is 100 TV channels, 45 music, Internet and phone service.

The lineup is set for the sixth annual Hyart Film Festival, which will take place next week in Lovell. Festival director Jason Zeller said the festival will feature a science fiction night and the best of the animated films from the festival. Thursday, June 18, is Sci-Fi Night, featuring two short films plus the full-length feature “RZ-9” – the first feature length film to be shown at the festival. “RZ–9” is the full-length version of last year’s short “2020” that won the award for the best science fiction film at the 2014 Hyart Film Festival.

“RZ–9” stars former Lovell resident and LHS graduate Ethan McDowell, and Zeller said McDowell plans to attend the festival Thursday night.
