The Cowley Progress

Monday night, after the usual opening exercises of the weekly priesthood meeting as had been previously announced, the meeting was turned into a reception jollification in honor of the arrival from Utah of the owners and proprietors of the Big Horn Canning Factory – Mr. Peterson and family and Stevens family, also a part of the factory personnel, all of whom were present.

There is also a son of Mr. Peterson, his young wife and baby, all adorable people and excellent citizens, who will identify themselves with Cowley’s future growth and advancement. The Progress can do no less than reiterate its welcome of last week of these people whose coming will mean so much to not only Cowley but to the whole of the Big Horn Basin.

Ralph Davis, a member of the Deaver-Frannie Chapter of FFA, was elected a State Farmer at the state convention held in Casper, April 6-7. To win the degree, Ralph exceeded the minimum requirements set up by the association in every respect. He operates a small farm outside Deaver and helps support his mother. In addition, he has an excellent school record, being highest in his class scholastically, and is a leader in class activities.

This is the highest honor the state association can confer on its members, and Ralph is the first member of the Deaver-Frannie chapter to win a State Farmer degree.
