Although the boys, weighed after the tournament, proved by their weight that they were really Class B in weight but Class A players, they put all the Class A teams in the tournament out of business – one after another – except for Powell and Rock Springs.
Through the generosity of Mr. L.T. Stratton the people of Cowley were given the opportunity of reading the telegraphic bulletins as they were received by him and posted upon the big drug store mirror.

The Lovell Jaycee basketball team returned Sunday with the championship of the American Basketball Congress and a first place trophy that dwarfs anything ever seen in Lovell. The boys traveled by car and won every game they played on their way to Georgia and made a clean sweep of the tournament games, as well. They had tough competition and won their games by having the staying power to pull away from opponents in the latter part of the games.
Lovell trounced the Ozarks from Missouri, 71-57, to win the title, but they had more than a personal reason behind it all. This crown was to serve as a memorial to their coach, Wayne Gray, who died Tuesday night.

Two area carpenters escaped injury Thursday around 5 p.m. when roof trusses on the new Stevens Wholesale building in Lovell collapsed. Ken Wiley of Lovell and Richard Knutsen of Cowley were working under the trusses when high winds brought the structure down. Owner Bob Stevens said they had removed some braces to begin siding the structure when the winds came up.

They did it, they finally did it – and not once but twice. For the first time since the Wyoming State Spirit Competition was reduced to just two classes, 3A and 4A, forcing smaller schools to compete against larger schools, the Lovell High School Dance Team captured first place in the competition, and they were matched by the Lovell Cheerleading Team with another first-place trophy in the competition held last Wednesday, March 12, at the Casper Events Center.
