Frank Vincent, one-armed, one-legged veteran of the World War, who was last heard from in Portland selling pencils on the street, is being sought by the United States Veterans Bureau, which has $13,000 to give him. Vincent, who accidentally shot himself in April of 1917 while a member of the Wyoming National Guard, put in a claim for compensation from the Army, but it was disallowed because the law then provided for no compensation for anyone hurt before October 6, 1917. Since then the law has been changed.

The Big Horn Canning company completed its pack this month. The bean pack was completed Saturday the 15th as the freeze Sunday night at the Moncur Little Valley Ranch stopped picking operations. The quality of the beans received for canning this season was far superior to any season in the company’s history, 50 percent of the beans grading fancy. The beans canned this season was in excess of 800,000 pounds. As high as 250 pickers were in the bean fields on some days.

A citizen band radio base station at the North Big Horn Hospital was approved by the hospital’s board of trustees Tuesday night. The base station will be exclusively for emergency situations, hospital administrator Bill Carls said. Estimated cost of the setup is $190.
Hospital personnel will constantly monitor the emergency CB channel 9 for news of wrecks and other injuries. The major advantage of the base station, Carls said, is to allow North Big Horn County Search and Rescue team members to call the hospital directly, relaying information of accident victims and transportation to the hospital, if needed.

Alex Hinckley Cramer was involved in the tragedy last week. She works in New Jersey, and six of her office associates within her personal office went to a broker’s meeting to discuss insurance. The meeting was held on the top floors of the World Trade Center, and as far as she knows, all have been lost. She has now returned to her work devastated and full of sorrow.

A fairly large crowd quickly filled the boardroom at the Big Horn County School District No. 2 board of trustees meeting on Monday in Lovell, anticipating a resolution to the question of whether or not to implement a new soccer program at Lovell High School. Proponents of the proposal didn’t get the resolution they were looking for, with the board ultimately voting to table the proposal “indefinitely” following a lengthy discussion.
