The Perfection Auto Appliance Company of Cowley has opened an office over the Big Horn Drug Co. occupying the west front room. This new company is getting started off in fine shape and will soon make its influence felt in the community.  

75 years ago, April 14, 1949

The Lovell Chronicle

Sunday evening at the Lovell Methodist Church the resignation of Rev. Edward White was accepted. Rev. White will retire from the regular pastorate, but will continue to reside in Lovell. A new minister will be secured for the Lovell and Deaver charge.

50 years ago, April 11, 1974

The Lovell Chronicle

The first truck to pull three semi-trailers on Wyoming’s highways was a Salt Creek Freightway truck which left Casper at 7 p.m., March 25, virtually empty, and made the 185-mile trip in three and one-half hours. Triple-trailer units will be allowed use of state roads under regulations issued recently by the Highway Department governing a 90-day test of the system.

The Lovell Chronicle

Margaret MacFadyen Peck, co-owner of the Lovell Chronicle, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, following surgery. She was 78. A devoted mother, journalist, artist and philanthropist, Margaret Peck shared her philosophy of life with Lovell Chronicle readers through newspaper column-writing since the mid 1980s.

Judy Richards of Lovell was elected Chair of the State Board of Education by the unanimous vote at a meeting March 23. Richards was born and raised in Lovell. She graduated from Lovell High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science/history from Colorado State University. She worked in the banking industry for many years and is also a substitute teacher.

The Lovell Chronicle

To most who know him he’s simply “Murph.” To others, he’s the one who fixed their car, helped save their burning house, drove their bus safely to state basketball or delivered quality care as an EMT taking them to the hospital. For all of those irons in the fire – lovingly and carefully handled – Tri-Mountain View Masonic Lodge No. 35 will tonight (Thursday) honor Scott Murphey as the 2014 Citizen and Mason of the the Year.
