Owen Walker plays in Wyoming-Montana all-star games
Recent Lovell graduate Owen Walker took to the court over the weekend to play for Wyoming in the Wyoming-Montana All-Star basketball series. The team played in Gillette on Friday and Lockwood, Montana, on Saturday. Although Wyoming lost to Montana both nights, 92-72 and 83-68, Walker was observed to have a strong performance on the court.
“I thought Walker represented himself, the program and the community very well. He was a very dominant player like I knew he would be,” said Lovell head boys basketball coach Shane Durtsche, a longtime coach of Walker’s.
According to Durtsche, Walker added 12 points to the scoreboard and had around 10 rebounds in the first game in Gillette Friday night. The next night in Lockwood, Walker put 13 points on the board and had an additional 10 rebounds in that game.
“It has been a joy and honor to coach him over the last five years. He’ll be greatly missed as a part of the team, and not just because of his talents, but because of the young man he is,” Durtsche said.
