Paleontologist to speak July 18

Dr. Michael Brett-Surman, Museum Specialist for Dinosaurs, Fossil Reptiles and Amphibians, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution (retired) will present “Dinosaurs for parents, teachers, and other living fossils” on July 18 at 6 p.m. at the Greybull Public Library. 

Dr. Brett-Surman is a popular teacher, lecturer and noted paleontologist. For several years, “Dr. Mikey” co-taught several K-12 courses in geology and paleontology through the Bighorn Basin Geoscience Center in Greybull, which was part of the Smithsonian Outreach program. 

He is the author of “The Jurassic World Field Guide to Dinosaurs” with Dr. Thomas R. Holtz Jr. and the co-editor of “The Complete Dinosaur,” first and second editions. His research included several excavations in the Greybull-Shell area including the world’s only known Allosaurus nest found east of Greybull.
