In a very competitive meet, the Powell Panthers finished in the top 10 at the State 3A Swimming and Diving meet last weekend. Local swimmers Hugh Carpenter, Will Fuller, Conner Mayes and Taggart Shumway all contributed points to the team score with places in individual and relay B events.

Fuller swam to ninth place in the 100 back with a time of 1:00.66, just behind teammate Adam Williams (1:00.50). He and Carpenter joined Gabe Rose and Williams in the 200 medley and 400 free relays to place eighth in both. Mayes and Shumway teamed up with Jon Hawley and Garrett Lennon to grab 10th in the 200 free relay.

Lander won their 28th state 3A title with first place in two relays and second in the other, and had 20 individual swims in the finals. After classification changes Evanston, Green River and Riverton will move to 4A next year.
