Patrick Joseph O’Berry

Dec. 5, 1946 – Oct. 19, 2024

Patrick Joseph O’Berry, 77, of Lovell passed away peacefully at his daughter’s house in Billings on October 19, 2024.

Patrick was born in Provo, Utah, on December 5, 1946, to Willard and Joye O’Berry. As the child of an Air Force officer, Patrick moved around a lot, living in many parts of the United States and even living in Germany for a time. Ultimately, they settled in Florida, where he attended and graduated from high school in 1965.

After serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil, he returned to the place of his birth and attended Brigham Young University, where he met the bright and talented Vivian Norberg, who he married in 1969. He graduated with a degree in law enforcement in 1973.

He served in the Army as a military policeman. While stationed in West Germany, Patrick and Vivian welcomed their first child, Kathleen, in 1974. After his service was over, they relocated to Colorado, where they welcomed another four children, settling in Broomfield.

His beloved wife Vivian passed away in 1995 after a long battle with leukemia. In 1997 he married Teresa Bruns and took on the role of helping her raise her younger children. They were married for 10 years.

Patrick was a kind and loving father and grandfather who was always ready to impart of his wisdom to anyone who needed it. His home was filled with an eclectic collection of knickknacks, artwork, model ships, clocks and swords. Of course, nothing compared in majesty or magnitude to the large saltwater fish tank he maintained in his living room during his children’s teen years. Anemones, lion fish, coral, shrimp, clown fish and one lumpy angler fish known to his kids as “The Blob” greeted everyone who entered the house.

He had the ability to take whatever he had available and make it into something useful and interesting. Be it an old piece of colored plexiglass, some mismatched pieces of molding and a few hooks becoming a window shade or a miniature model of an antique, brass diving helmet being turned into a reading lamp, the house was filled with his unique creations.

Patrick loved God and his Savior. He served faithfully in his church callings and took the opportunity to testify of the Gospel whenever he could.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, wife Vivian and brother Daniel.

He is survived by his brother Michael; children Kathleen (Ed), Shanna (Dave), Ryan (Alisa), Erin (Steve) and Shane (Ryan Denise) as well as 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Montana services will be held Thursday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m., following the viewing at noon at the LDS Chapel, 2929 Belvedere Drive, in Billings.

A graveside service and interment will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. at the Louisville Cemetery, 2105 Empire Road, in Louisville, Colorado.
