Peter Feldman

Aug. 17, 1948 – Oct. 31, 2023
Peter Feldman, 75 years of age, resident of Wellington, Colorado, passed away on Oct. 31, 2023, at his home of a heart attack.
Peter was born on Aug. 17, 1948, to Catherine “Peaches” and William “Wegie” Feldman in Baker, Oregon. The family moved to Billings in 1950, where he grew up.
After Peter graduated high school at Billings Central in 1966, he went on to attend Assumption Abbey in North Dakota, where he discerned holy orders. He served his country in the Marine Reserves for several years. He went on to study education and history at Rocky Mountain College in Billings and started his teaching career at Holy Rosary Catholic School in Billings. He eventually earned a master’s degree from Eastern Montana College.
He moved to Lovell in 1978 and taught at Lovell Elementary School for 30 years.
He met, immediately fell in love with and married his wife of 32 years, Betty Rae Martin, in 1986. Peter then became stepfather to Betty’s two daughters, Shauna and Sharla. They went on to have two more daughters, Laura and Sarah.
In 2009 Peter retired, and he and Betty moved to Wellington, Colorado. He kept a part-time job delivering flowers, which he enjoyed, and he spent his time as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.
His wife died in 2018, and Peter heroically spent the last six years deepening his faith and growing closer to God through daily Mass and prayer. He enjoyed coffee shops, taking walks, 70s TV shows, defending life, the occasional cigar and dad jokes. God, his immediate and extended family and laughter meant the most to him.
Peter was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Betty, sister Koleen Parker and parents William and Catherine.
He is survived by his daughters, Shauna (Jake) Verlanic, Sharla (Tyson) McGuffin, Laura (Nolan) Lenz and Sarah Feldman; 14 grandchildren; brothers Kerry and Michael Feldman; sisters Mary Bouchoux and Joann Hertz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Saint John XXlll in Fort Collins, Colorado, on November 6, starting at 1 p.m. with a visitation, followed by recitation of the Rosary at 2 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 3 p.m. His interment took place the following day at the Wray, Colorado, cemetery in a private ceremony.
Donations can be made in honor of Peter to the 40 Days for Life Campaign.
