Phyllis Dulane Wood

Phyllis Dulane “Doodles” Wood, 81, of Frannie and formally Cody passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 11, 2025.
She was born on November 19, 1943, in Sterling, Colorado, to Lloyd and Lorena Brown. Upon graduating as valedictorian of her class she earned a full ride scholarship to a science academy.
She married Howard “Woody” Wood on September 11, 1961, hence new adventures awaited her. They moved to Cody in 1967, where she and Woody joined the team (staff) at Webster Chevrolet paint and body shop. Phyllis was well known for her automotive paint and body repair talent.
After her husband’s death in 1992, she changed careers and went to work at Best Western Sunset Motel until retirement.
Phyllis enjoyed watching the stars, being in the mountains and rock hounding, and she loved Elvis, wind chimes, butterflies, lilacs and annoying her grandkids, even though she loved them dearly.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband Woody, son Howard (Sonny) Wood Jr., daughter Loretta Faye Wood, brothers Lionel “Pete” Brown and Lloyd Brown Jr., sisters Barbara “Boots” Thompson and Beverly “Pug” Balderson and nephew Dondi Brown.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Gina (Earl) Edwards, Teresa Briggs, Patricia Irby, Debbie Beard, Pam (Brian) Peterson, Mike (Carisa) Wood and Pat (Sara) Wood; brother Roger Brown; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at the VFW in Cody on Friday, Sept. 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
