Police report: ‘Disoriented’ man just waiting for his wife

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of January 20--26:

January 20: 8:06 p.m. – An officer made contact with a citizen at the supermarket who did not have a driver’s license or proper registration or license plates. An officer advised the individual of the possible infractions and offered to drive the person home. She declined, and upon driving her car was issued a citation for having no driver’s license and no registration on the vehicle. The officer knew about the vehicle and driver from previous encounters.

January 21: 8:52 a.m. – A caller reported that a dog keeps knocking over the garbage can, a skinny black lab with a red collar. The owner was contacted and said the dog ran away when being taken from a kennel to the home.

11:09 p.m. – An officer responded to a complaint of a loud thumping noise on Oregon Avenue. The officer sat at the location but could not hear a thumping noise.

January 24: 8:15 a.m. – A male with grey and white hair, no coat and wearing slippers was reported by a passerby on Oregon Avenue as seemingly disoriented and confused as he was walking around. An officer spoke with the man, who said he was simply on his cell phone while waiting for his wife.

8:46 p.m. – A caller complained about a semi-truck parked on the street on East Eighth Street. An officer spoke with the complaining party and explained that the truck can legally park on the street as long as it is moved within 48 hours. The truck driver said he was planning to move the semi soon, that he had just stopped by his home for a bit.

8:52 p.m. – A caller said she had left her keys on the counter at the Shoshone Bar and feared that her car had been stolen. It turned out that the vehicle was parked right where she left it.

January 25: 2:16 p.m. – A caller reported that her 9-year-old niece was “out of control.” An officer responded and sat with the girl until she calmed down.

11:18 p.m. – A caller reported two males “looking into vehicles” on Kansas Avenue. An officer made contact, and the individuals said they were simply walking home from Maverik.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
