Police report: Babysitter who kicked child is arrested

The Lovell Police Department received the following calls for the week of December 30-January 5:

December 30: 12:31 p.m. – An officer found that someone had overfilled all of the dumpsters at Armory Park with Christmas boxes, wrapping paper and the like, and whatever didn’t fit was thrown on the ground.

2:47 p.m. – A woman reported that she had met somebody on the Plenty of Fish website who asked for $1,000 a week and sent her a check for $10,000 to get the exchange rolling. She reportedly sent the first $1,000, but when she tried to cash the $10,000 check from the person she had made contact with, the check was fraudulent.

6:20 p.m. – A caller reported someone shining flashlights into the interior of a parked camper trailer on Kansas Avenue. It turned out that a couple who had sold their home were looking for a place to live temporarily and were checking out the trailer, which they ended up renting.

December 31: 1:39 p.m. – A report was called in of a small bear sighted on Eighth Street the previous night. The bear was seen on a front door motion-activated doorbell camera.

1:51 p.m. – A caller reported that a deer had been chased by a dog and could not get up, apparently injured. The call was referred to the Game and Fish Dept.

11:22 p.m. – A caller reported a pickup on Third Street “driving recklessly and driving down the street three times in less than an hour. Officers spotted the truck, but it was parked.

January 1: 8:48 p.m. – A caller reported that their truck had been egged and the door of a shed in their backyard had been kicked in. The case is under investigation.

2:21 p.m. – A caller reported that two horses were missing on Highway 37, a bay thoroughbred with a C/D brand on her right hip and a chestnut mare with a star on her face. The horses had last been seen a week and a half ago.

January 2: 2:20 a.m. – An altercation between two females was reported at a residence on Jersey Avenue. The occupant of the house filed a criminal trespass order against a female who had come to her house before the altercation ensued.

3 a.m. – Worried about retaliation, a caller in the above case was worried that her vehicle might be damaged by the person who had been trespassed. Police provided extra patrol in the area, and no damage was reported.

10:36 a.m. – A caller reported that any time certain dogs were let outside at a residence on East Fifth Street, “all they do is bark.” An officer responded and didn’t find any dogs barking but would check back often.

11:55 a.m. – A person brought in a letter and a check asking the reporting party to put cash into a certain account and also cash the check. The bank advised that the check was fraudulent.

12:02 p.m. – A woman contacted police and reported that a woman who was babysitting her 3-year-old daughter was recorded on home security video kicking the child. She provided video evidence to police, and Ashley Anne Wright, 34, was arrested for child abuse and transported to the county detention center in Basin.

1:20 p.m. – A caller reported that a Facebook page had been hacked by someone listing items for sale on the page and requesting that money be sent before taking possession of the items.

January 5: 10:03 p.m. – A reporting party stated that kids had been doing donuts in a brown Chevy truck in the parking lot of the LDS Church. Evidence of similar activity has been found in local school parking lots.

Note: The above calls were received by the Lovell Police Department. Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney.
